Aquatech Innovation Awards Overall Winner 2025

Aurea®
Company: Royal HaskoningDHV
Stand: 12.412
Jury comment: Aurea® synergically combines: biological activated carbon filtration followed by chemical oxidation. The biological process removes organic matter and a wide range of organic micropollutants, without activated carbon replacement. The chemical oxidation step, requiring minimal oxidant input, eliminates remaining recalcitrant pollutants. Aurea® ensures high removal efficiency for a wide spectrum of substances, minimizes energy consumption and CO2 emissions and leading to lower operational costs.
"What you want with biologica! sewer treatment is that the process is as close to being natural as possible, because the water will be returned to nature. What impressed the jury was that Aurea strives to meet these goals," said Buisman.

Fluor-Mop Technology
Company: Weaver Labs
Product description: Our technology removes PFAS from water to non-detect levels. Fluor-Mop removes short- and long chain PFAS fast and efficient and treats up to 8x the water volume compared to conventional technologies. It is the lowest life-cycle cost solution. Straightforward on-site regeneration produces a highly concentrated PFAS-rich waste stream, optimal for emerging PFAS destruction technologies and reducing their energy costs. Fluor-Mop is a platform technology with more applications in detection and more.

Aqua Membranes Printed Spacer Technology®
Company: Aqua Membranes, Inc.
Stand: 13.100-6
Jury comment: Aqua Membranes' Printed Spacer Technology replaces traditional mesh spacers with 3D printed spacers, which cuts energy use by 30 per cent, doubles cleaning intervals, and maxi mises output with 500 sq/ft of membrane. The improvements gained in efficiency and sustainability helps to meet the demands of a resource-conscious world while optimising operational casts and enhancing system longevity. The jury liked the approach of new integrated spaces designs and were "impressed with the result of 30 per cent energy saving".
Category Transport and Process & Control

UWR System
Company: Urban Water Retention ApS
Stand: 01.530A
Jury comment: The UWR System is a patented Danish solution for efficient stormwater management, featuring modular pipes that reduce casts, time, and CO2 emissions. lt effectively addresses challenges like urban flooding and water retention, offering sustainable drainage and storage solutions. With eco-friendly construction, it supports urban development aligned with climate goals and has enormous potential in the municipal, pharmaceutical, and food and beverage sectors. The jury considered the design of this stormwater storage innovative due to it being "modular, easy to adjust to existing constructions and easy to clean".
Green Chemicals for Watertech

EVOdescale
Company: Evodrop AG
Stand: 02.208G
Jury comment: EVOdescale is an eco-friendly water softener that reduces limescale by using green biodegradeble chemicals only, filters pollutants, preserves minerals, and protects appliances. lt prevents deposits in pipes, appliances, and surfaces, ensuring improved water quality, and supports environmentally conscious living by eliminating the need for salt-based systems or chemica! additives. The jury members were impressed by the fact it is 100 per cent biodegradable, calling it "a nice example of a green chemica! solutions".

L-GAP MD
Company: RN Solutions B.V.
Stand: 12.509
Jury comment: L-GAP MD is an innovative design for membrane distillation (MD), allowing the use of low value heat and water for high value pure water production. The hydraulic design of the L-GAP MD module prevents the occurrence of both temperature and concentration polarisation. The unique diamond shaped feed spacer ensures the cooling of the membrane by evaporation of water is compensated and salts are moved away from the membrane surface, making MD competitive with other membrane systems for the first time. Despite following membrane distillation for decades, the jury noted that such an improvement in capacity hadn't been realised before. "This capacity level could make membrane distillation competitive with other membrane technologies but with the possibility to use waste heat as an energy source."
