On-site water treatment in the home or office prior to consumption
Point of Use (PoU) technologies are used on-site to complement centralised treatment and further reduce pathogens in water, prior to consumption. It’s estimated that annually over 80 million PoU units are shipped around the world, with China accounting for 15 million of the market. Traditional market drivers have included consumer concerns over drinking water taste and odour. However, emerging concerns over water quality are also becoming a driving factor. Multiple innovations, in both membrane and UVC-LED technologies, are helping to further drive technology efficiency and uptake. Furthermore, PoU systems are integrating with digital systems: modern solutions can now send users alerts via apps and smartphone alerts when filters need changing. This topic centre brings together the latest innovations in the PoU market, including the technologies and the partnerships.
